Portico75 - Smoke
Welcome to your gateway into mechanical keyboards. Portico75 is our entry-level keyboard designed from the ground up to offer the sound and feel of keyboards that cost much more. It is a compact 75% layout with a rotary encoder knob housed in a polycarbonate case.
🛠️ Minimal Assembly Required – Building the Portico will take you 30 - 45 minutes. We've designed this to be a perfect starting place if you've never built a keyboard before. The stabilizers come installed, and the PCB is hotswap. To complete the build you just need switches and keycaps. We’ve created a build tutorial with step by step photos to walk you through the whole process.

- Hot swap – no soldering required. It's easy to insert and change switches.
- In-switch RGB and underglow. Note: these are not individually addressable.

- USB-C connection via daughterboard. This allows for a lower connection on the case, better aesthetic, and even cable angle.

Assembly Guide
Portico75 is a keyboard kit. You will have to assemble it yourself. You'll also need to buy separately:
- Switches (79 required for build)
- Keycaps

Keymap and RGB Settings
The default Portico75 layout can be adjusted in VIA Configurator.
You can adjust the RGB settings by holding down the FN key (the key immediately to the left of the arrow keys) and pressing:
FN + F1: Effect mode increase
FN + F2: Effect mode decrease
FN + F3: Hue 1 increase
FN + F4: Hue 1 decrease
FN + F5: Saturation 1 increase
FN + F6: Saturation 1 decrease
FN + F7: Hue 2 increase (please note, only a few effects use a second color)
FN + F8: Hue 2 decrease
FN + F9: Saturation 2 increase
FN + F10: Saturation 2 decrease
FN + F11: Brightness increase
FN + F12: Brightness decrease
Common Questions
Is this easy to build for beginners?
Yes! We designed this specifically for folks who have never built a keyboard before. You have to be mindful of small parts like screws, and check that things work, but it’s a straight forward process that anyone can do. A brief summary of steps is:
- Insert switches.
- Install keycaps.

How do I configure the keymap?
Portico75 is compatible with VIA Configurator, which is an easy to use app. You click to change what keypresses do, and changes take place instantly—you don’t need to flash your keyboard to apply the changes.

In addition to this build kit, what else do I need to buy to build a complete keyboard?
You’ll need to buy switches and keycaps.
- Switches: Portico75 uses 79 switches and works with MX-style switches. We recommend buying 84+, so that you have a few extra in case a pin gets bent or you lose one.
- Keycaps: Portico75 has a 75% keyboard layout. It is compatible with most custom keycap sets, as it doesn’t feature any unusual key sizes. As always, take care to double check the keycaps you’re buying to ensure it will fit on the Portico75 layout!
This layout is missing keys! How do I type them?
You access the missing keys via another “layer” of keys. It's like typing numbers or symbols on your smartphone, or holding 'shift' on your keyboard to type capital letters.
For example, by default FN + F11 will increase the brightness of your RGB LEDs and FN + F12 will decrease it.
This can all be configured in VIA.
